Right now, 6 out of every 10 residents in the Fox Valley are at risk of developing coronary heart disease, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, cancer and other life-threatening diseases. And, that number is growing.
What’s behind these health threats? The simple answer is our growing waistlines. More than 60% of Fox Valley residents are currently overweight, 30% among them are actually obese. That’s double the obesity rates in the 90s.
How we can create a change in our community?
Join us for a free event, Wake Up with Weight of the Fox Valley, on Friday, November 20 from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m. at Bridgewood Conference Center (Neenah), with keynote speaker, Brenda Rooney, PhD, MPH. Register now!
Dr. Rooney co-directs the population health and health promotion activities for Gundersen Health System. Realizing the role the healthcare providers can have in addressing obesity, Gundersen Health System examined the electronic medical record data of its patients. Using this information, they have created a strategic plan to address obesity for all ages, both inside and outside the health system’s walls. In her keynote address, Dr. Rooney will tell us how we can “Learn from La Crosse,” demonstrating how a little bit of information can spark a big change in obesity rates.
Register for this event and learn about the morning’s agenda.
