Thank you to all of those who have registered for the Passport to Active Living Challenge! We are very close to reaching our goal, but we are still hoping to encourage more Fox Valley residents to adopt active lifestyles this summer through this new Weight of the Fox Valley program. If you have yet to sign up for the Challenge, or have friends that have not yet signed up, please do so by the June 30th deadline!

You can pick up a passport at any of the following locations:

  • YMCA of the Fox Cities locations
  • Oshkosh YMCA locations
  • United Way Fox Cities
  • Oshkosh Area United Way
  • Calumet County Health Department

Ever since we kicked off the Passport to Active Living at the beginning of this month, I have heard stories that the Challenge has helped participants to be more conscious of their daily level of activity. Both Monica Clare, Executive Director and Leah Thibodeau, Volunteer Coordinator at St. Joseph Food Program recently shared their stories with me:

Monica said, "The Weight of the Fox Valley initiative is a great reminder to all of us of the importance of staying active. There is something about recording activity that creates a reminder to us that we need to keep moving."

Leah said, "I'm so happy that my co-workers encouraged me to sign-up for The Weight of the Fox Valley's Passport to Active Living. It's given me the incentive I needed to make sure I am getting up and active on a more regular basis. We even started walking together at the end of our morning shift. Our bond as co-workers and friends is strengthened, and we notice a decrease in stress when we return to our desks. I'm glad to be part of this great, community-wide initiative."

Over the past several weeks, clients using the services at St. Joseph Food Program have also had the opportunity to visit a booth to sign up for the Passport Challenge. Monica has been a champion for encouraging families at St. Joseph Food Program to participate, "I love that families can use the Passport as a way to teach their children about health while taking advantage of the great parks and trails in the Fox Valley Region - all while spending quality time together."

And, don't forget there are prizes involved...Participants who log at least 15 minutes of exercise 3 days per week are eligible to win prizes after 6-weeks and 12-weeks of participation. Join the Passport Challenge today and kick off your summer in a healthy way!
