Contributor: Tierney Wittmann, Weight of the Fox Valley Intern
Hello! My name is Tierney Wittmann and I was a summer Intern at the Weight of the Fox Valley. United Way Fox Cities and Oshkosh Area United Way serve as backbone organizations for the Weight of the Fox Valley, which aims at promoting healthy lifestyles and active living to individuals in the community. I just graduated from UW-La Crosse in Community Health Education with a minor in Nutrition, so the Weight of the Fox Valley provided a perfect internship opportunity for me.
I have lived in Menasha my whole life, which is what brought me back to the area this summer. I don’t know about you, but I am very excited that fall is here, giving all of us Wisconsinites great opportunities for apple picking, pumpkin carving, jumping into leaf piles, and breathtaking views of the colorful leaves in our local parks.
Not sure where to start exploring this fall? The Weight of the Fox Valley is thrilled to announce new interactive parks and trails maps on our website. With one click you can get useful information on most of the parks and trails in Outagamie, Winnebago, and Calumet counties! You can simply search by name or location to find the address and any amenities the parks might offer.
This is the first time that all of this data is found on one website, which makes it much easier for individuals to find local parks and trails that fit their needs. This is also a perfect tool for finding new opportunities to get outside and be active. Best of all, most parks and trails are FREE.
As for me, I am going to explore New Zealand and Australia for the next year, but am blessed to have had an amazing internship opportunity here at the Weight of the Fox Valley.
Weight of the Fox Valley wants to extend a big thank you to all the municipalities who shared their information to create the interactive map and Brooklyn Massey, United Way Marketing and Communications Intern, for putting it all together on the website.
