Did you ever get to your birthday, reflect back, and think, “I’ve had a great year!”? It’s a wonderful feeling, right? Because of your support, in 2015, United Way Fox Cities improved lives through over 100 programs, initiatives, and grants serving more than 100,000 people in the Fox Cities.
As you can see, we’ve had a great year and we are excited to invite you to celebrate our community’s accomplishments. Please join us for the 2015 United Way Fox Cities Report to the Community on April 26 from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m. at the Radisson Paper Valley Hotel. Everyone is welcome to come. (Cost is $18 per person.) Register online today.
This year, the program will focus on child literacy and development with special guest speaker, Dr. Dipesh Navsaria, founding medical director of Reach Out and Read Wisconsin. As a part of our efforts to ensure that children enter school ready to learn, United Way Fox Cities provided a multi-year grant to fund the local Reach Out and Read program.
Led by the Appleton Public Library, Reach Out and Read Partners – Fox Cities is putting books in the hands of children when they visit their health care providers. Dr. Navsaria explains the importance of the program, “If the child has no identified health concerns, I would rather walk into a well-visit without my stethoscope than without a book. I learn so much about the child’s health, development and family dynamics by watching her interact with a book.”
The program will also include a review of 2015 and the announcement of Wes Urch Volunteer Service Award recipients.
You’ve been a part of building a stronger, more caring community for everyone - we look forward to sharing our great year with you!
