While at the grocery store, eating healthy and staying on budget can seem like two incompatible ideas. However, with the right tools, a meal can be both good for you and wallet-friendly. This is what Weight of the Fox Valley is aiming to provide with their Eat Well for Less initiative.

Eat Well for Less 2Eat Well for Less recipes follow the ThedaCare Nutritional Guidelines and can be made for three dollars a serving, for four servings. The meal, which usually includes a main dish, side dish, beverage, and dessert, can be prepared in thirty minutes or less. To make shopping easy, all of the ingredients have the Appleton Woodman’s Food Market aisles listed on the recipe card. You can find all of the Eat Well for Less recipes online, pick up a copy in the aisles at Woodman’s, or sign up for our e-newsletter to stay up-to-date on the latest recipes.

Community response to the new program has been positive. One person said that he “didn’t know where to start with healthy eating” and Eat Well for Less provided him with a plan. Another pointed out that the meals can easily be scaled down, great for single people or small families.

On July 21, Eat Well for Less will be hosting a cooking demonstration at Woodman’s Market on Westhill Boulevard, Appleton from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. JD Gildemeister will be featuring Grilled Chicken Thighs with a Cherry Tomato and Onion Sauté. Try the recipe at home.

Weight of the Fox Valley also wants to help you pay for the groceries! Simply by ‘liking’ the top post on the Weight of the Fox Valley Facebook page, you will be entered to win a Woodman’s gift card! Three lucky names will be drawn at the end of each month.

A huge thank you to our partners: ThedaCare, Woodman’s Markets and Kimberly-Clark.
