Miller Electric Mfg. Co. recently engaged employees in a “United Way Day of Action” volunteer opportunity with Greater Fox Cities Area Habitat for Humanity. The company encourages its employees to be active in the communities where they live and work to help maintain the quality of life that we are so fortunate to have in the Fox Valley.

Miller employees Jaime Hudack, Production Coordinator/Manufacturing Engineer – TIG System Solutions and Mike Drummond, Material Coordinator for the TIG Division offered to share their volunteer experiences:

Jaime: “I was teamed up with a veteran volunteer and we helped with installation of wall framing within the basement area. I was very excited to attend and bring some of my own construction skills to help move the project along. My favorite part of the experience was meeting new people! The veteran volunteer team mainly consisted of retired individuals. It was interesting learning about some of their past lives prior to volunteering regularly.”

Mike: “I worked with a group of 8 to 12 Miller employees and Habitat for Humanity volunteers to complete the framing on a house. I was a first-time volunteer and leading up to the event I was unsure of what to expect. The volunteer experience ended up to be a lot of fun. I would do it again because it offers me an opportunity to meet people from Miller that I may not meet otherwise. I’m happy I got the opportunity to help out.”

Over the course of three days in August, a total of 38 Miller employees including plant floor employees, office employees, senior staff, and presidents volunteered to help with construction on the Habitat house. Tricia Barrett, Divisional Controller at Miller Electric Mfg. Co. said, “The spirit of giving back is part of Miller Mfg. Co.’s culture. United Way plays a large role in that culture by allowing employees to create lasting change by investing in innovative programs and services that address needs within the community.”
