The United Way Emerging Leaders Valentine’s Family Festival will be held on February 11th at Maplewood Middle School in Menasha from 9:30 to noon. It is a great place to come and have fun on a cold day. But don’t just take our word for it. Here is a message from Pat Hughes, a United Way Fox Cities Emerging Leader:
"A few years back I volunteered to hand out books at the Valentine’s Family Festival, it was my first year being involved with United Way Emerging Leaders – Fox Cities and I was told that this was our signature event. Although many people did a wonderful job explaining what it was, leading up to the event I really wasn’t sure why it was, that is until I showed up. To see so many smiling faces on kids while they got their faces painted, or wore their brand new balloon hat, or received books of their own was great to see. To see that we were able to tie in the importance of literacy, personal hygiene, and healthy eating habits in a fun and exciting family event was wonderful. Most importantly to have a free event in the middle of the winter in Wisconsin that brings families out together is a Fox Cities treasure. At the end of the day I had handed out over 500 books to over 150 children between Pre-K and 5th grade and we had over 500 children attending along with their parents."
Join us for the fun! The event is free and includes: cookie decorating, arts and crafts, a photo booth, face painting, balloon animals, games, healthy snacks, and books (while supplies last). All children in attendance can enter their school/teacher for a chance to win a $150 Scholastic gift card.
