Campaign Celebration 2017

From your friends at United Way Fox Cities

We have a lot to celebrate this year! We are excited to announce we have had a successful 2017 campaign that met the $8.75 million goal. Every gift counted towards reaching this goal. The investment that you and thousands of others made is the reason we are able to continue creating a positive difference in the lives of 1 in 3 people in the Fox Cities. Because of your generosity, we will be welcoming four new programs this year. These four programs join the more than 100 programs, initiatives, and grants that are our partners in serving the community:

  • Samaritan Counseling Center is a nonprofit, state-licensed outpatient mental health and drug and alcohol treatment clinic. In the Fox Cities, the program serves approximately 525 adults and 265 children and adolescents for anxiety, depression, substance abuse, suicidality, relationship concerns, anger, and many more diagnoses.
  • The Fox Valley Memory Project, a program of Lutheran Social Services, was created approximately four years ago to help address the needs of those living with dementia and their caregivers. With a goal of reducing social isolation, the programs and services provide people with dementia and their caregivers socialization in a stigma-free environment.
  • Thrive Career Academy, a program of Valley Packaging Industries, targets youth and adults who are at high risk for poverty based on disabilities and/or poor work history that prevents them from attaining and maintaining employment. Thrive Career Academy combines classroom social skills learning, job skill training, healthy living and stamina training, community internships, and job placement assistance so participants are ready for competitive jobs.
  • Reach Out and Read, a program of the Appleton Public Library, promotes early childhood literacy. During well-child visits from 6 months to 5 years of age, pediatricians give a free book to their young patients and, at the same appointment, educate caregivers on the benefits of reading to their children.

The ongoing good work of these organizations (and so many more) is only possible when we come together to build a stronger, more caring community. During our 2017 Campaign Celebration, we recognized teams that displayed exemplary performance in their workplace's United Way campaign. (View photos of the event.) And, congratulations to Joseph Krueger from Miller Electric Mfg. Co., the winner of the United Way Sweepstakes Car, a 2017 Chevy Cruze donated by Bergstrom Automotive!

What a great year. It is due to the incredible generosity of our community that United Way Fox Cities is recognized as one of the top performing United Way organizations by United Way Worldwide. Thank you!
