Join us on December 11th for a free event!
Contributors: Keren Rosenberg, The Weight of the Fox Valley Manager and Nanci Micke, Vice President of Marketing and Communications at United Way Fox Cities
'Tis the season of joy and holiday
cheer; but, with that, come the challenges of enjoying all the
merriment of the holidays while continuing to live a healthy
lifestyle. With the launch of The Weight of the Fox Valley, there
are many more opportunities for those of us living in the Fox
Valley area to be involved in not only keeping ourselves healthy,
but also helping to build a healthier community. This new community
initiative supports Calumet, Outagamie and Winnebago County
residents in achieving and maintaining a healthy weight at every
age - and you can be a part of it!
If you have not yet heard of The Weight of the Fox Valley, you can learn
more at the FREE community breakfast event on Thursday, December
11th from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m. at Bridgewood Resort Hotel &
Conference Center (1000 Cameron Way, Neenah, WI).
Join community members from all sectors as we enjoy keynote
speaker and national expert, Dr. Patrick Remington, Associate Dean
for Public Health and Professor of Population Health Sciences at
the School of Medicine and Public Health at the University of
Wisconsin-Madison. Among his many involvements, Dr. Remington led
the development of the Robert Wood Johnson-funded "Community Health
Rankings" program.
If you are interested in joining the Weight of the of Fox Valley's
Active Communities or Worksite Action Teams, both groups will meet
after Dr. Remington's presentation. The Action Team meetings will
be held from 9:15 to 10:45 a.m. The Active Community Team promotes
policies and initiatives that create or enhance active recreational
opportunities and physical activities such as biking, walking,
gardening sailing, and dancing. The Worksite Action Team is
improving employee and family health through worksite wellness
programs, including increasing healthy food options and providing
opportunities for physical activity.
Please RSVP by December 8th to attend this
free event (healthy breakfast included!) We hope you will consider
joining this collaborative initiative.
