If you walk into Maplewood Middle School in Menasha on Saturday, February 13, be ready for some crowds and a lot of excitement! This is the date for the free Valentine’s Family Festival (VFF) hosted by United Way Fox Cities Emerging Leaders.
Now in its 8th year, the VFF has grown to be a must-attend-event for about 600 kids and their families. (Children must be accompanied by an adult.)
The smiles on those 600 faces say it all. The kids are in their glory – decorating cookies, making Valentine’s at the arts and crafts station, playing games, getting their face painted, dancing – the list goes on.
Parents have equally big smiles. They have a free, safe event that is not only fun, but can be a great bonding opportunity with their children – from helping to spread frosting, to spelling “I Love You” on Valentine’s, to posing together in the photo booth – it’s a great day for the entire family.
Each child who attends will receive a literacy kit with age-appropriate books (pre-K – 6th grade), a toothbrush, and a healthy snack. (While supplies last.)
Of course, none of this would be possible without the 100+ volunteers and generous local companies that host the activity booths. It’s events like the Valentine’s Family Festival that remind me of what a unique place the Fox Valley is – a place where talent and treasure come together to improve the quality of life for all.
Please join us on February 13. The event runs 9:30 - noon at Maplewood Middle School in Menasha (1600 Midway Road), conveniently located on the Valley Transit bus route.
