The holiday season is a time for appreciating the good things in our lives. In the spirit of David Letterman, here is our United Way top ten things we are thankful for:
10. FamilyWize
This free prescription drug card provides savings up to 75%; average savings is 35%. It is available online or at our United Way office. FamilyWize is easy to use, requires no paperwork, and never expires.
9. The LIFE Study
We are thankful to have the 2016 Fox Cities LIFE Study as a valuable tool in assessing the needs and celebrating the accomplishments in our community. We are grateful for our LIFE Study partners, the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region and the Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce.
8. Our United Way Youth Board
Over 50 high school kids who make up the United Way Youth board are learning about the community, volunteering for nonprofits, and making grant decisions.
7. The Fox Cities Diaper Bank
We are thankful that the Fox Cities Diaper Bank, an initiative of United Way Fox Cities, was able to distribute over 400,000 diapers this year to more than 900 babies per month. We also thank our 2,000+ Diaper Bank volunteers.
6. The Connector
Since the launch in 2007, over 124,000 rides have been provided for more than 2,000 people who need transportation to second- and third-shift jobs. We are very grateful to our partner, Valley Transit for making this initiative work.
5. United Way’s PATH for Students
Our United Way’s PATH for Students is providing school-based mental health therapy in all ten school districts throughout the Fox Cities. PATH is making a difference every day in the lives of our children.
4. United Way 2-1-1
Our call specialists connect people to the resources that they need. 24-hours a day, 7 days a week, a live person answers the call. Calling 2-1-1 is is free and confidential. Three easy numbers, one helping voice.
3. Our Partners
United Way could not do its work alone. We are grateful to all of our partners who come together in our community to address needs. It is by working together that we can make real change happen.
2. Our Volunteers
We think we have the best volunteers in the world. They make investment decisions, help us raise funds, set policy, create awareness, and they share their wisdom and talents. And they do it all with open hearts. They truly LIVE UNITED.
1. The Community
We live in one of the most generous, caring communities in the entire country. We know this is a great place to call home, and it is very much because of the kindness of the people who live here. When they know there is a need, they are willing to be part of the solution. We are very thankful to the people of the Fox Cities for their ongoing support.
